Plain to see from this work's inscription, Rolf Armstrong shared a life-long friendship with his muse, Jewel Flowers. The former Miss Lumberton beauty queen first posed for Armstrong in 1940, reinvigorating Armstrong's career and turning Flowers into a star calendar girl. Flowers modeled for Armstrong for more than 60 works of art.
